Welcome to Summer at the Circus

Do you remember that old Staples commercial for back-to-school sales? The man was happily pushing a cart while dancing through the store, tossing school supplies into the cart, while the background vocalist sang “Its the most wonderful time of the year!” I always hated that commercial as a child. I thought it was mean. Ha! I get it now.

Today is the first official day of summer at the circus. The first day of non-stop, simultaneous:
“Mommy, mommy, mommy…..”
“Please put your dish in the dishwasher.” “Ok, Mommy, cocoa head. I put my dish in the dishwasher, right Mommy? Right Mommy? I put it in the dishwasher because I’m a good boy and I like to help. Yes, I like to help. I’m a good boy. Dishwasher, dishwasher, dishwasher.” (Circus Boy #2 is a non-stop talker.)
“But I want the little cereal with the little tiny puffy things, the CLEAN cereal.” (What am I supposed to do with that?)
“BAH, BAH, MMMEEEHHHH. AH”
“Blah, blah, blah.” (No, I’m not making fun, random sounds like that are common.)
“Mommy, my brother showed me his bottom!”
:Mommy my brother showed me his belly button
“I don’t WANNNAAA!”
Add in some cooing, crying, fussing and I think I’m going to sell ear plugs to visitors.

For the record, those are all things I heard in the 10 minutes I took to write this little post.

That said, we’ve got some fun things planned this summer. We’re going to study some geography with the Flat Stanley geography books, review our letters, practice some letter blends and addition facts. We’re going to practice rhyming words and read some poetry. Maybe even write our own silly poems. Then we’re going to load them in the car for two upcoming road trips, the thought of which makes mommy want to pop her eyeballs out with a teaspoon. Oh well, what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right?

Happy Wednesday!!
